End of the Week: 05/09/10- 05/16/10

END OF THE WEEK:

Happy Saturday! Anyways, here are finally my picks for the week's biggest stories and moments, from Lebron James to Dallas Braden to even an inappropriate disc jockey:

TV Show Cancellation of the Week: "Law and Order"
Yes, it was announced earlier this week that the 20 season old cop-lawyer show will not be back to pass "Gunsmoke" as the longest running drama in television history, even though the new Dick Wolf spin-off "Law and Order: LA" has been picked up, "Law and Order: SVU" has been renewed and that NBC President Angela Broomstad said back in December that it will try to keep the show on the air next season. I guess when pushed come to shove, the network decided that ratings (which has not been kind to them the last few years) are more important than history. Other shows that weren't able to make the cut for the big Upfronts Week next week: "Flash Forward," "Heroes," "Better Off Ted," "Trauma," and not "Chuck"!

Video of the Week: "Worst Wedding DJ Ever"
Look, I know that the drum opening in "Calming in the Air Tonight" is cool, and almost impossible to not try to immitate it yourself. That doesn't mean that you have to use the closest object you can find to do so!

Stories of the Week:
If she does become a justice, it will be the second straight woman the President has picked, the first being Sonya Sotomayor last year. Of course, the situation between the two picks are different. When Sotomayor was picked, all people talked about were her being a reverse racist. With Kagan, the big talk going on is whether the solicitor general...is a lesbian. Hey, she does love softball! And poker. And she has a butch haircut! Of course people are going to discuss with this piece of news!
- The Tiger Woods Saga of '09 Memorial Story of the Week: Delonte West is Having an Affair With Lebron James's Mom
This whole story began as something a commenter wrote at Ball Don't Lie (#16 on the post) and it appears more and more likely that this is just a made-up rumor. However, let's pretend that this is true. Can you imagine West telling Lebron about this, say during a phone call about James will play next season:
West: So, man, have any thoughts about where you're going? Just so you know, we're all hoping you come back.
Lebron: Yeah, I know, man. Right now, I'm just looking at my options, just seeing what the best option is.
West: Yeah, that's cool. Also, I've f@%$&# your mom a few times.
Lebron: Yeah, so I- wait, what?

No longer will he be know as that nobody who talked smack to A-Rod. now... well, he'll still be known that (or at least, until after the next time he pitches against the Yankees) except now he's not a nobody, has a perfect game on his resume and a grandma who also talked smack to A-Rod.

Person of the Week: Lebron James
So, the Cavs season is over. Now the speculation and wooing of the biggest free agent to hit the NBA begins. Will he try to go to a team that can most likely help him win a championship, which most fingers point to being the Chicago Bulls? Will he try to go to a team that could potentially bring him huge fame or immortality, which most signs point to the New York Knicks and the New Jersey Nets of Brooklyn? Will he try to go to the team that can have the best Robin to his Batman, which most fingers point to wherever Dwayne Wade or Chris Bosh will be as well as Derrick Rose in Chicago? Or will he just go the Joe Mauer rout and stay with the hometown for another seven years, trying to win that city their first professional sports championship since 1964, by which I mean the Cleveland Cavaliers?
These are the things that James has to think about for the next 50 to 60 days. What will he choose? How will he be able to decide? Well, whatever he decides there will be media outlets discussing it and their will be cities trying to make their case for him coming to their team, from the Chicagoans promising Rose and a championship to New Yorkers promising the Garden and the city spotlight, and much more. And if the next few things will be like it has already been the last two days, then strap onto your deskchair because it's going to be a good one.

And that's the way it is! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone!
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
