RANDOM THOUGHTS:
The following were on my mind between Monday, January 31st to Thursday, February 3rd:
-My top five sports to watch in high definition:
1. Football
2. Hockey
3. Golf
4. Soccer
5. Track and Field
-Knowing what I know about this blizzard, I thought that Mayor Daley and city officials did the best that they could with the Lake Shore Drive situation. Grant it, the move was a bit quickly thought out and the fact that drivers took hours the next day to finally find their vehicle is a bit of a dissapointment. But with many vehicles losing gas and even batteries stuck in that traffic and with an accident at the start of the pile up that made it impossible for other drivers to move, I think that Chief of Staff Ray Orozco made a prudent move of mandating the drivers to get out of their vehicles and into a safe location like a hospital was just fine.
- Blake Griffin has so many great dunks under his belt this season, I wouldn't be surprised if NBA Entertainment made a 30 minute feature detailing simply all of the great plays that he has made up until this point.
- Can we all just agree that Derrick Rose should be the NBA MVP? At this point, its really him and Kevin Durant as the frontrunners.
- Best of luck to Andy Petite in his life following the news of his recent retirement from baseball. Not only has he been one of the top faces of the Yankees franchise since '96, but he's also one of the five or so greatest postseason pitchers in MLB history (with a record 19 wins in October).
- Hey, look, a flip-flop of mine! Here's me from my 2010 Emmys live blog post:
8:47 p.m.- Some classic Ricky Gervais as the Emmys are back from commercial. He makes fun of Mel Gibson and gives the audience free beer in just a two minute span. He has now officially replaced Stephen Colbert as my favorite award presenter at Emmys. Now, if only he could do a better job HOSTING an awards show, that would make things even better.
And now, here's me from one me one of my 01/17 edition of "Random Thoughts":
Ricky Gervais should host every awards show, period. He's mean, he pushes buttons in his bitter and snark jokes and he doesn't care about the fact that Hollywood celebritites are too sensitive and, therefore, don't laugh at jokes directed toward their peers as one would like. Plus, he's just plain magnificent. It's ironic that he probably won't get another chance to do so after his jokes last night. But, then again, who knows.
That's Bill Plaschke level flopping right there!
This Monday will be the day after Super Bowl XLV, so expect for me to cancel the usual Monday edition of the RTs in favor of a lengthy look back at the game like I did last year. Still, be sure to check back four days from now just in case. Otherwise, enjoy your Thursday night!
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
