Random Thoughts: 09/02/10- 09/13/10

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

The following were on my mind from the Friday before Labor Day to today, the 13th of September, 2010:

- The Sunday of the first NFL season is now one of the best days on the calendar for me. Not only do I wake up that morning feeling like a little kid on Christmas morning, but it's the only time of the season where I actually get so pumped up watching the action on that day that I purposely wake up much earlier than normal Sunday to go the early morning mass just so I can watch all of the pre-game shows. Most of the time I don't even bother trying to watch shows like FOX NFL Sunday and Sunday NFL Countdown, but on this day I do.

- If there's anyone whom Lovie Smith should have given the gameball to after Sunday's game against the Lions, it had to have been the guys who created Rule 8, Section 1 and Article 4 of the NFL rulebook.

- I'm still not sure how two people sitting two white bathtubs naked has to do with erectile dysfunction.

- Denard Robinson. Say it with me: DENARD ROBINSON!
/UM is my favorite college football team in the country

- Let's see: Chris Johnson went ballistic, Jay Cutler and Matt Moore threw interceptions, Tom Brady connected to Wes Welker in successful fashion, the Raiders, Rams and Browns both lost and the Cowboys cost themselves from winning a close football game. Yep, I'd say that not much has changed in the NFL since the end of the '09 regular season.

- I'm not sure how good "The Social Network" will be or if it will indeed be as good as the Oscar buzz it is receiving. But there's one thing about them that I do know: their trailers and TV spots are outstanding. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53OUHupfqws)

- A big thanks to Atlanta and San Diego for giving up their once big leads in their divisions and for the teams involved in the NL Wild Card race. With all of the playoff spots in the AL pretty much wrapped up (unless the White Sox go on some kind of big-'07 Rockies type winning streak to win the AL Central over the Twins) and the Reds dominating the rest of the NL Central, the final three weeks of the MLB regular season might have been one of the most boring ones ever had it not been for you guys.

- USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! USA! (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=sheridan_chris&page=TeamUSA100912-turkey)

- "The Suitcase" episode of "Mad Men" that aired two Sundays ago has to rank among the show's best for many reasons, and that includes the outstanding performances by Jon Hamm and Elizabeth Moss

I'm thinking of bringing back the Thursday edition of the RTs just for these next few months, and I will announce my final decision on this matter soon. Until then, expect to see the next batch of thoughts to be posted as it has been since February, the next Monday. Have a good week, everybody!

Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
