The First Random Thoughts Of 2011, Featuring NBC, New Year's Eve and Porn Stars

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

And...we're back! The following were on my mind from my previous "Random Thoughts" post to just now:

- I know I mentioned this last year, but I have to repeat myself: watching New Year's Eve countdown specials in Chicago are the "All About Steve" to the "Avatar" that is the New Year's Eve festivities in Time Square. Poor bands, weird locations, everything. They even messed up the countdown to 2011 by five full seconds! Even the 2011 countdown on a Polish television station was at least 10X better! Next time, every station in this town should just re-air the New York broadcast
for the sake of good television.

-There's just something about 60,000 white people at Lambeau Field shouting out "KUUUUNE" at the top of their lungs that sounds nothing short of...weird.

-How come is it that every time I tune into "Hardball with Chris Matthews," the guy always has to bring up Jack Kennedy into every Obama discussion?

-Who knew that a supposedly "lame duck" session in Congress could bring out the best in congressional Democrats? The repealing of "Don't Ask Don't Tell,"
the new tax cut deal, the 9/11 first responders health care plan, the nuclear weapons treaty with Russia ...the blue party really needs to lose more mid-term elections.

-
First Nickelodeon, the the Democratic party, then GAP, and now Comedy Central. When are most companies going to realize that their logo is just fine the way it was and not necessary of any remodeling?

- Are there any minority musical comedians out there? Every time I try to make a list of people that are famous for making funny songs (Weird Al Yankovic, Adam Sandler, the Lonely Island, even Larry the Cable Guy) all of them are white and white only. I sure hope that this is the fist post that the commenters respond to any of my posts so I would know the answer.

- I still don't understand why NBC is still using Faith Hill for that pointless Sunday Night Football opening that is just trying to be a wannabee "Are You Ready For Some Football?" song. Is it because Dick Ebersol likes seeing his names in pretty lights?

-The Baltimore Ravens: making playoff games boring since 2000.

-Fact: honey mustard is a very underrated condiment.

-Beef O'Bradys sounds like the name given to an Irish pornstar, not a family restaurant.

-If Ben Roethliberger can get engaged to a female, then Michael Vick deserves that new puppy that he's been wanting.

- I wonder what it would be like to be a psychiatrist for an adult film star. "So tell me, Stacee, what was the event that caused you to put half a lamp up your snatch?"

-The "Twilight Zone" New Year's marathon on SyFy- A tradition unlike any other.

- I disagree with Lakers coach Phil Jackson's disapproval of NBA games on Christmas Day. Personally, I feel that these games have become what college football bowl games are on New Year's Day, or NFL games on Thanksgiving in that it has become a new American tradition during the holidays. Besides, its usually the day wit some of the best matchups in the NBA, and how could you not like that?

The second installment of the RTs for the calendar year 2011 will be posted sometime this Thursday. Until then, live long and prosper and continue to enjoy the start of this new era of The mj15 Blog!
