(Google announcing it will change its name to Topeka is just one of the many pranks pulled online yesterday)
Can I just be the first to say that I'm glad April Fools Day is over? That's because I'm definitely glad April Fools Day is over. It's not that I think it's a stupid holiday. Especially all the pranks being pulled around the Internet. Hey, everybody, George Lucas is announcing that he will make a new "Star Wars" movie with Zac Snyder directing! (clicks on page) April Fools! Hahahaha, did you fall for it? Because it sure sounded real, didn't it!
(Note: Movieweb.com actually did that last year)
Look, I'm not saying that they should stop doing so. I'm just saying that there should be limitations. Thanks to the big amount of pranks on the Internet, I can't read any story on 04/01 without thinking if it was a joke or not, which king of grinds my gears. John Forsythe, who is supposedly a TV legend, died
today. But what if he died yesterday? Would anyone, even his family members, believed him?
Let's not forget how stupid it makes people look when they are fooled by it, like Jason McIntyre of the New York Post. Poor guy probably is still embarrassed by believing that Mark Sanchez rumor.
Anyways, on to my picks for the best moments from March...
END OF THE MONTH:
Meltdown of the Month: Abbortsford Heat Head Coach Jim Playfair (Ironic Name Isn't It)
What is it about the minor league's that brings out the craziest coaches? From beating a stick to pieces to screaming like a madman to even taking a stick of his own player, it definitely is a meltdown of epic proportions. Not crouching down "Platoon" style andthrowing a pitching equipment to home plate like a grenade good like this
guy, but it's still pretty good. If I were to rank this on a scale of Jim Caldwell to Earl Weaver, it would be a Phil Wellman.
Videos of the Month:
- The Funniest: "Christolph Waltz on His Role in 'Der Humpink'"
As some random commenter on YouTube said "This didn't make my day...This made MY LIFE." Also, a big congrats to Mr. Waltz. He won a well-deserved Best Supporting Actor Oscar, and he also showed that he's one of the minority in Germany that has a sense of humor. That's 2 for 2 if you're counting at home.
- The Funnest: to Watch: "Chat Roulette Improv"
Not only is it good, but it gets bonus points for being the first of many more Chat Roulette related videos to come.
- Huh???: Lady Gaga's "Telephone"
Seems like a lot to show about someone not wanting to pick up a telephone. Seriously, though, can anyone make sense of this?
- Best Fake Movie Trailer: "Weird: The Al Yankovic Story"
Fake or not, this has to be nominated for Trailer of the Year, right?
"Weird: The Al Yankovic Story" from Aaron Paul
- The Most Awesome: Jon Stewart's "Conservative Libertarian" Sketch
One of "The Daily Show"'s best, and longest (nearly 15 minutes, uninterrupted).
The Daily Show With Jon StewartMon - Thurs 11p / 10c
| Daily Show Full Episodes | Political Humor | Health Care Reform |
The Hell is Wrong With This Guy: Solly Forrell
Jesus, dude! I know you don't support his views, but that doesn't mean it's okay to want to have him killed!
Stories of the Month:
- The Most Scandalous: The Catholic Church and the Abuse Scandals
I don't care if it was the Devil, gays, the media, or whatever reason people are trying to put blame on the news of the new cases of pedophile priests and the Pope keeping one of his priests in their church during his charges of molestation while he was Archbishop in Munich. It's still sickening and makes me kind of embarrassed to be involved in this type of religion.
- The Most Overblown: Boy Directs Air Traffic Control in JFK Airport
The boy was just playfully asked by his father to tell him directions. It's not like his parents left the room, with him in charge. Sometimes I just wonder if the media is just doing this to attract webpage views. After all, that's what Balloon Boy did.
- The One that Made Jessee James the Most Hated Man in America: Sandra Bullock and Jessee James Split
So...did Sandra Bullock have a good month, or a bad one?
- The Most Historic: Congress Passes Health Care Reform Bill
I think enough has been said by a lot of people. Now all that is left is watch and he what will be the aftermath of all of this.
Meme of the Month: Release the Kraken!
Considering the terrible reviews of "Clash of the Titans," this might be the only thing that will stand out from the movie.
Person of the Month: Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi
Say all you want, but to continue fighting to push a bill that most Americans and all of the Republican Party find unpopular, then to be able to get just enough votes to pass it is just astounding. Now that took some balls!
Runner-ups: Sandra Bullock, Tea Partiers.
And that's the way it was for the month of March. From the parody-full NCAA tournament, to the Oscars, to even Washington, there were a lot of good interesting moments. Now let's hope April will be just as good. And with Tiger Woods coming back to play The Masters, the iPad releasing, Easter and a lot more things to come, it shouldn't disappoint. So, enjoy your Good Friday, and have a good Easter weekend everyone!
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
