Random Thoughts: 11/01/10- 11/04/10

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

It's Thursday, so it must mean that it's time to bring out the new random thoughts. The following were on my mind between Monday, November 1st and Thursday, November 4th:

- Congratulations to the Giants on their first World Series win since moving to San Fransisco in 1958. As a White Sox fan, I have enjoyed them play in the postseason because they remind me a lot that '05 World Series winning team. They have great pitching, hitters that aren't superstars that are just good enough to produce runs, a fanbase that is great during the home playoff games, a long championship drought that is finally broken. Plus, they have both Juan Uribe and Aaron Rowand...so there's that. Also, I would like to apologize to San Fransisco personally for picking them to lose to the Rangers. How foolish was I to go against the team with the better pitching staff in this year's postseason where pitching has been a big key throughout! I guess you can add that to me predicting the Colts to win SB XLIV, Lebron James staying in Cleveland, England to win the World Cup, and "Lonestar" becoming the fall TV season's biggest hit to the list of stupid picks in 2010.

- You got to love a country like the US where they see elected officials are doing badly and fix them by having politicans that will be even worse then the old regime. Or they elect those same people again.

- What the hell, CNN! You had an eight hour special dedicated to live coverage of the midterm elections and you didn't have a single hologram?!?! How can I possibly understand this election without will.i.am beaming in from Chicago to tell me?

- I am loving these reasons behind all of Randy Moss's releases. First, it was reported that he might have gotten cut from New England because of an alleged spat with Tom Brady over their hair. Then, there are reports that Brad Childress cut him from the team because of an incident in which he complained about the team's catering during a postgame meal. What's next? Will Tennessee cut him because he raced Chris Johnson and actually beat him? Will he get cut because Joe Buck pointed out another "disgusting act" by him? Does he cut himself because he doesn't feel that he's best for the team he is playing? Crazy.

- Is Edgar Renteria one of the five the greatest World Series hitters of all time? In three different World Series (1997, 2004 and this year) he has produced a batting average of .333 with 2 home runs, 10 RBIs, 11 runs scored and two series clinching hits (the famous game winner back in game 7 of the '97 World Series and the 3 run homer on Monday), one of four hitters to do so along with (you're not going to believe this)...Joe Dimaggio, Yogi Berra and Lou Gehrig (which will be the only times you will ever hear those four in a same sentence ever again). If that isn't a good case to put him right in the top five, then I don't know what is.

- Okay, so the "NFL's Top 100 Greatest Player" countdown ends tonight in mere hours on NFL Network. In case you haven't heard, the NFL Network has been counting down, as the title states, their list of the 100 greatest players ever with ten being named every week starting from #100-#91 and going down from there. Now, they are down to the top ten. I'm not really sure what the rankings will be, but I do have a good feeling as to which players they will include in the top ten. They should be:
-Brown and Rice
-Johnny Unitas
- Don Hudson
- Lawrence Taylor
- Peyton Manning
- Joe Montana
- Walter Payton
-Reggie White
- Dick Butkus
As for the #1 player? I'm gonna go with either Jim Brown or Jerry Rice. Brown for being the first unbelievable running back in NFL history and Rice for all of his records. Either way, it should be interesting to see the final rankings for what has been a stellar series to watch.

More random thoughts to come this Monday. Until then, make sure to stay beautiful!
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
