One quick thought on something I really think was very important news as soon as I buy me a Cornballer...
Alright ,everyone, sorry to bother everyone from their extra day off from school (hooray, proffesional development day!). Before I start, I just want to apologize for the delay of my weekly NFL picks column, but rest assure, I will have it before the day ends. Anyways, as you may know I love TV. But more than anything else, I love comedies. From the classic BBC comedies like "Monty Python" to "Fawlty Towers" (which I just watched yesterday, and it was brilliant!) to new comedies "Modern Family" and "Community," I love them all.
Of course, there is one comedy that stands out for me above the rest. A comedy that was truly underappreciated by it's broadcaster, but beloved by it's 4 or 5 million fans. A show that didn't run long (3 seasons, which in today's TV years is 13 episodes) and yet is still continuing on. A show I like to call...
"ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT"
Why is "Arrested Development my favorite of all-time, you ask? Why not? It had one of the best sets of actors and characters together (Jason
Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett). It had some of the best and most motherf*cking mindblowing writing ever heard. And it had jokes and comedies that not also had charm but thick layers of humors. For more reasons, just Google "why was Arrested Development so great" and you'll find out.
Now, I wasn't one of the ones that loved it when it aired. I personally hated it because it took a big thirty-minute chunk out of my FOX viewing schedule on Sundays. But then, just about a few months ago, the great one they called Hulu.com showed me how wrong I was. That's right, I watched all 53 addictive episodes in a span of two weeks. And I loved every minute of it! In fact, I started taking it all back and even wished I was old enough to start a blog to celebrate the show during it's run before it was cancelled in 2006. And I so would've done a review, too!
What's the whole point of this article, you also ask? Well, during the last few months, things have not been going well for "AD" fans such as myself. Not only was the network that was airing it (G4) no longer began to show it, but also the fact that Hulu pulled all of their episodes except for season 1 (lousy bastards!). Then, this past Monday while I was watching the Monty Python documentary on IFC (the Independent Film Channel) and I stumbled upon this brief promotion:
Arrested Development- Starting this Sunday, 9 p.m.
Wait, so G4 will no longer airing it? A channel so respected like IFC will actually show all the episodes with decency? All I can say to myself was that it was terrific news. Not only do "AD" fans will be able to see the episodes that was pulled, but new watchers will be able to see it in a good time. Which is good because with the movie coming up, this is the best time for new viewers to explore the show (that is, if they have Dish Network or Direct TV. IFC isn't on cable).
In conclusion, starting this Sunday (the day the first two episodes of the show will be on IFC) I hope for all the people reading this post that haven't watched "Arrested Development" before to watch and see how great it see. Or, if don't have IFC, you can check out all the episodes online at MSN.com. I promise you won't be dissapointed! In fact, I know that youi won't and, in fact, see how it is probably the comedy of the century!
So, to repeat, the first "Arrested Development" episodes on IFC will be on this Sunday at 9 p.m.. Hope you can join along in the viewing. I know I will!
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
