Joe Buck, Mark Sanchez and a Fantastic Episode of "Conan"

RANDOM THOUGHTS:

The following were on my mind between Thursday, November 3rd and Monday, November 7th:

- I would hate to have Mark Sanchez as the quarterback of my favorite team, and that's coming from someone who has cheered on guys like Rex Grossman and Jay Cutler over the years! You just never know what to expect from the guy, yet for the Jets, 90% of the games that they play rely on his performance.

- Kind of interesting to watch the top big games from Saturday night (#1 LSU- #2 Alabama, a.k.a. the worst great game ever, and #14 Kansas State- #3 Oklahoma State). Both of those games were close right down to the finish, yet the way they were close made these two games the exact opposite. The LSU-Alabama game was all defense, and no offense (and bad penalties and bad special teams, but I won't get any further than that), while the Kansas State-Oklahoma State was all offense, and no defense. Basically, it was one of every kind of flavor of football that night.

- Is it just me as if Joe Buck has sounded different lately in the broadcast booth, as if he's more laid back and taking everything less seriously than he used to? Maybe he just came to a realization that FOX won't fire him no matter how bad and monotonous he is during games, and has just decided to treat his job more loosely.

- Thursday's final episode of Conan O'Brien's return to New York on "Conan" was one of the finest episodes of late night television that I've seen all year, right up there with the week Craig Ferguson spent in Paris. It had everything: a Louis C.K. interview, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's instant classic interviews at Occupy Wall Street, a cameo by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, a gay wedding, and more! O'Brien may have been hit-or-miss his TBS show debuted, but at least he knows how to put on a big show when he wants to.

- Since when has Hollywood decided to make Chicago the new hot spot for movies and TV shows as of late?

- Only a matter of time before Joe Paterno is fired from Penn State. No way that the man last through the entire week without resigning for his role in the Sandusky scandal.

More to come on Thursday! Until then, enjoy the start of your workweek.
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
