RANDOM THOUGHTS:
The following were on my mind between Monday, July 9th and Monday, July 16th:
- "Breaking Bad" returned last night (and to a record audience, if I may add) and, honestly, I don't think that they could have pulled off a better season premiere under the circumstances. It started out with a great opening scene, with Walter White a year from the events of this episode, full of hair and back in New Mexico after some time spent in New Hampshire, eating breakfast alone (all while spiritually upsetting Walter Jr. for not finishing it) and buying a full automatic rifle for...something. Whatever "something" is, it really gets me excited in seeing the events that lead up to that moment. The rest of the episode played pretty much like an epilogue to "Face Off," with Walt tying up the loose ends from his plan so that no-one catches him for doing it all while displaying the arrogance and bravado of the great Heisenberg for finally having defeated all of his previous opponents. It wasn't as suspenseful as the events that led up to it last year, but I think that was just the kind of episode that it needed to be. Plus, it was actually pretty funny, and did at least give us a great mini-heist arc, one that allowed everyone familiar with the ICP song "Miracles" a chance to make a "Fucking magnets, how do they work?" joke over the Internet. Also, this:
"You know how they say 'It's been a pleasure?' It hasn't." I just love Mike so much.
-I get the feeling that Comic-Con is like the Super Bowl for geeks, in that it's a place that I have been dreaming of going to see in
person for years yet realize that it's better off to be watching the
proceedings in the comfort of my own home instead of dealing with all
the nuisances (the expenses, long lines, etc.)
-Not only has the National League won three straight All-Star games, but they've also had a team win four out of the last six World Series. Even though the American League has won interleague play for the past decade, I'm starting to wonder if we're officially beginning to see a new era of MLB league supremacy.
- Taco Bell and Doritos should be sharing a Nobel Peace Prize.
- It's hard sometimes being a 5'8'' man in a 5'11'' man's world.
- Not many movies come in with as much hype as "The Dark Knight Rises" has been getting, so it's really nice to see all those rave reviews popping up.
More of the RTs to come next Monday. I'll be back later on this week for the start of "End of the Half-Year." Until then, have a wonderful start to your week!
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
