RANDOM THOUGHTS:
The following were on my mind and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah...
- And the winner for earliest holiday season promotion goes to... IHOP(?!) with their holiday pancakes commercial on November 2nd. Damn! I had K- Mart as the favorite, followed by Walgreens and then Wal- Mart (they actually had one last night), with Best Buy as a possible dark horse.
- If a tree falls on the ground (in this case, No. 25 ranked Syracuse losing to Div. II LeMoyne College) but no one is around to hear it (it was an exhibition game), does it make a sound (should it be considered a big story)?
- This half season of "South Park" is close to becoming one of its best in four years (could've done it without all the reality TV parodies, though).
- Stephen Colbert sponsoring the US Speed Skating Team is the greatest thing to happen to them since they were shown on TV.
- "Arrested Development" is the complete opposite of "South Park": It's more funnier when it's bleeped (look at yesterday's rerun on IFC).
- Holy crap! The baseball team with the highest payroll including 4 out of the 5 highest played players, the highest paid pitcher and one of the best closers of all time actually won the World Series?! Seriously? Naw, but in all fairness, congrats to the Yankees. It was quite a win for them, and for capitalism (how can you not spend $1 billion this decade and come out on top just once).
- There is only one heaven, and that's in Tim Tebow's blue eyes.
- Congrats to Hideki Matsui. First DH to ever win World Series MVP, and soon to be holder of one of the most underserving and flukiest contracts in MLB history.
And... that's the way it is. As always, I hoped you enjoyed it. There were plenty of other thoughts I could've added, like this week's "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and teh fact that A- Rod has a ring (Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn! God Mother F*ckin Dammit!). But, I chose these instead. Anyways, more random thoughts to come this Monday.
But first, it's time for another installment of, umm... "Beatles Power Hour" (?) (better title still pending). This week, we have another classic from 1966, which was also in the legendary "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album. Ladies and gentleman, the wonderful "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds." Which, apparently (as some people want you to believe) is about drugs. Then again, there's at least one person that believes that at least one Beatles song in the mid- 1960's is about drugs. Enjoy...
Sincerely,
