End of the Week: 10/10/10- 10/16/10

END OF THE WEEK:

Another seven days have passed in the 2010 calendar has passed, and just like every other week it was filled with its interesting people, stories and moments. Here, now, are my picks for the best of the best. Enjoy.

Day of the Week: 10/10/10
First time this coincidence in the calendar occured in 100 years and the only time that this coicidence will occur this century, so of course I had to pick this. How did you celebrate it?

Catfight of the Week: Bill O'Reilly vs. Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar on "The View"
It's like the "Family Guy" parody come to life! Anyways, you have to give it up to Barbara Walters for her professionalism afterward. Not only did she call out the professionalism by both Goldberg and Behar, but she also did a good job giving an earful to O'Reilly after associating all Muslims with those radical extremists who executed the 9/11 attacks. There's a reason she has been in the TV business for over 40 years, and that was one reason why. Here's the video, by the way:

Video of the Week: "Brett Favre Getting Hit in the Groin by Football"
"Bwahahaha! This contest is over! Give this man the ten thousand dollars!" In all seriousness, this really is the best Hans Moleman impersonation ever. Great hustle there, Brett!

Story of the Week (meaning both the Actual Story of the Week and the Tiger Woods Saga of '09 Memorial Story of the Week):
All 33 Chilean Miners Are Rescued in Flawless Operation After 70 Days in Trapped Mine
Such an wonderful and heartwarming story with countless moments of inspiration and bad-assery. From the first miner to reach ground level (
Florencio Ávalos) to the last (Luis Urzúa), every one of them provided the world with a great and heartfelt moment. Congratulations to all of the miners for getting out of the mines alive after what must have been 70 days of Hell, and I wish you a great and enjoyable life from now on.

TV Experiment of the Week: The "30 Rock" Live Show
My opinion on it depends on which version of the episode I watched. I hated the East Coast version because, even though it did have its moments from Julia Louis-Dreyfus playing Liz Lemon in the cutaway gags to the commercials by Jon Hamm and Chris Parnell as Dr. Leo Spaceman to the joke Jack made about how the episode had the feel of a Mexican soap opera, it still felt very awkward at times and the audience was very distracting. I did enjoy, however, the West coast version of the show because of the more toned down audience and because the actors felt a lot more relaxed then before. Still, I do hope that this show will never have a live episode again.

People of the Week: Everyone Involved in the Rescue of the 33 Chilean Miners
Without them, none of the great and inspirational moments that came from the rescue would have happened. So from the engineers and scientists who prepared the rescue plan to Luis
Urzúa, who was the leader of the miners during the 70 days they were trapped and the one who kept the group afloat, to the President of Chile for making this one of his nation's top priority, I tip my hat to you. Now go enjoy your book deals and newfound fame!

And that's the way it was! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend. Now, if you will excuse me, I'm just gonna go and prepare myself for tonight's episode of "Mad Men." It's the season finale, you know!
Sincerely,
Your pal: mj15
