RANDOM THOUGHTS:
The following were on my mind between Monday, December 7th and Thursday, December 10th:
- After every alleged affair and scandal that I have heard of Tiger Woods (the affair count is at eleven for those who don't know), I'm really starting to question Woods's decision to marry his wife, Elin Nordergen (God, I hope I spelled it right).
- The combination of a man over forty with long, ponytail hair is terrible. Cut your hair, old man!
- Is it appropriate for a person to laugh in class when his friend says that Terry Schaivo is their favorite vegetable? Also, is it most likely that this person will go to hell for laughing when his friend calls Terry Schaivo his favorite vegetable?
- Why are people so angry that Congress spent some of their time voting for the BCS to not use the name "national championship" unless the final is due to a playoff. Look, I understand. Congress did take hours of precious time on something so mindblowingly stupid that they could've done this, ans that, and this and that. But, if you've been watching the news the last few weeks, it's really the only real thing they have done this month, so they should be rewarded for this. After all, they're just going to argue for weeks about health care anyway.
- I'm okay with the term "Happy Holidays." I even use it. I just don't like how the media has made it politically incorrect to say "Merry Christmas" unless it is a promo for some movie, TV show, or music album. I get it, there are people who don't celebrate Christmas. But over 80% of this country are Christian, so I don't see why one little phrase should be that upsetting.
- No Div. 1- FBS college football this week? Oh well, at least it's for only one week. Besides, at least th Heisman Award will be announced this week. The nominees for those who don't know;
1. Tim Tebow (Florida)- 2007 winner, 41 total TDs, possibly Jesus in disguise
2. Toby Gearhart (Stanford)- leader in rushing yards and TDs
3. Colt McCoy (Texas)- top 10 in passing yards, TDs, and percentage of completions
4. Mark Ingram (Alabama)- top 5 in rushing yards, leader of the nation's best team
5. Ndamukong Suh (Nebraska)- 3rd in sacks, best defensive player in college and owner of the scariest name for a defensive tackle ever.
My pick: Give me the white running back guy from Stanford who can't be brought down unless four people hit him at the same time.
As always, more random thoughts to come on Monday. Now, normally at this time I would just show a weekly dose of The Beatles. But, there's always going to be extra weeks to do that. Instead, I would like to take this time to wish a Happy Chaunakah for those that are celebrating it. Since I don't celebrate it, I'll try to do it the best way I can: by playing "The Dreidel Song" from "South Park."
Basically, all the main characters and Kyle's parents sing at the same time what they're talking about. I hope you enjoy:
Sincerely,
